Laptop use in the classroom may be a distraction for some students,
according to a study from economists at West Point. Data show students
with the highest ACT scores and grade point averages who used laptops in
class scored lower than peers who did not have
access to the technology. In
contrast, there wasn’t much of a difference between students with low
ACT scores — those who were allowed to use laptops did just as well
as those who couldn’t.
